New to mindfulness? Start here.
There is nothing you need to prepare. You only need to arrive, and to breathe.
What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the energy of being aware of what is happening in the present moment. It is the capacity to come home to ourselves, to our breath, and to life as it is.
What happens in a practice session?
A session usually includes guided sitting meditation, mindful breathing, sometimes walking meditation, and a time of sharing. Everything is offered gently, with no pressure.
What should I bring?
Just yourself, and comfortable clothing. For in-person sessions you are welcome to sit on a cushion or a chair.
Do I need to pay?
Our gatherings are offered freely, in the spirit of dana (generosity). Voluntary donations help sustain the community.
Questions from newcomers
A few things people often wonder about before their first visit.
Do I need to be Buddhist?
Not at all. Our community welcomes people of all faiths and of none. The practice of mindfulness is for everyone.
Do I need meditation experience?
No experience is needed. Every session includes gentle guidance, and there is always someone to welcome you and answer questions.
A simple practice for today
Wherever you are, you can pause and follow one full breath.
Breathing in, I calm my body. Breathing out, I smile.
